Sky Sports’ Guillem Balague believes that Robert Lewandowski could be the next big name to join Real Madrid’s ranks, with both parties ready to make the move happen. Lewandowski has proven to be one of Europe’s best and most prolific strikers at Borussia Dortmund and now Bayern Munich, but the Pole may now believe it is time to swap red for white, and join Los Blancos as their newest superstar.
Talking to Sky Sports, Balague said: “Those in the player’s close circle view enormous potential in a possible Bale-Lewandowski partnership and feel the time is right for him to make the move to the Spanish capital.
“He never thought he would have the chance to join Madrid while Cristiano Ronaldo was at the peak of his form but in Poland, the belief is that the Portugal forward and Karim Benzema’s time at the club is coming to an end.”
The 27-year-old has netted 31 league goals since he moved to the Allianz Arena in the summer of 2014, with 14 of those coming in as many Bundesliga games this year. Lewandowski’s trophy haul at Bayern still sits at just one league title, picked up last year, and he could be ready to move to the Santiago Bernabeu in order to boost his chances of winning the top silverware, such as the Champions League.
Lewandowski’s agent was present to watch Real Madrid demolish Getafe 4-1 at home on Saturday, when the players that the Pole would potentially be replacing – Benzema and/or Ronaldo – got three of the goals, while Bale netted the other.
