Bundesliga Star on Anfield Radar
Borussia Dortmund has reportedly accepted Liverpool’s £15 million bid for Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the past few days according to The Independent.
This news comes as a shock to fans and football pundits as it has occurred exactly two years after the Armenian attacking midfielder had rejected Liverpool in favour of his £20 million move to Dortmund in the summer of 2013.
Mkhitaryan’s agent, Mino Raiola, hinted last February that his client’s future at Dortmund could soon be coming to an end:
Henrikh wants to leave Dortmund at the end of the season. We will have to
wait and see what we can do.
Interest in Henrikh has been a constant for Dortmund due to his impressive stats of 24 goals and 20 assists in 94
appearances during his two-year career in the Bundesliga so far and he’s also made 45 appearances for his country.
However, Liverpool are keen to offload Italian duo, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini, within the last 8 days of transfer window before they make their 8th purchase of this summer. Balotelli is said to be heading back to AC Milan, whilst Borini is a target for Inter Milan.
Dortmund are set to make a loss of £5 million if they sell Mkhitaryan for the relatively cheap price of £15 million, having acquired the 26-year-old only 2 seasons ago.
Brendan Rodgers’ persistent interest looks as if it will pay off if Mkhitaryan decides to move to Anfield this summer.
